Although that green tinge is often associated with cheaper jewelry, it also happens with the pricey stuff too! While the green may seem alarming at first, it’s actually a fairly common chemical reaction. The green colour is usually a result of a metal in the jewelry reacting with your skin — or something on your skin most likely. Examples include lotion, soap, hair product, and even your own sweat and skin moisture!

The easiest way to prevent this green stain is to avoid the products that cause it. For example, taking your jewelry off before washing with soap or styling your hair with products will also reduce your chances of going green.

First of all, you don’t need to worry for this situation. Rest assured that your item is always making progress towards its final destination. As we can’t control all parts of the delivery chain, sometimes we may not receive tracking updates for standard shipping from certain countries or certain types of tracking updates. Sometimes, packages just aren’t scanned into the carrier’s system at intermediary stops, so it looks like nothing is happening.

Plating
Certain MeetBuir jewelry styles are plated meaning that a surface coating of another metal has been applied on top of the piece. The type of metal we use for plating is rhodium; a precious metal belonging to the platinum group of metals.

The coating of rhodium ensures a bright, durable and scratch resistant surface which can be polished to a high shine. Do not polish aggressively as it will only serve to wear away the plating. With time the plated finish will wear away which is considered normal wear and tear rather than a defect.

Pure silver is usually too soft for jewelry meaning that it will scratch easily.

It is therefore alloyed (mixed with other metals) to improve its durability.

Sterling silver is the world’s most popular silver alloy. It consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals.

It is excellent for jewelry because it preserves the colour, lustre and heft of pure silver and vastly improves its durability!

HOW TO MEASURE

1. Cut a piece of paper into a long thin strip.

2. Wrap the piece of paper around your knuckle, which is the largest point the ring will have to be able to get over.

3. Mark where the two ends of the paper first overlap with a marker.

4. Measure the length with a ruler.

5. Refer to the ring size chart to determine what ring size is.

Tips to make your measurement more accurate:

– Finger size changes depending on the time of day and the weather. For best results measure your finger size at the end of the day and when your fingers are warm

– Your ring should fit your finger comfortably; snug enough so that it will not fall off, but loose enough to slide over your knuckle.

– Remember that the two hands differ slightly in size; a ring worn on a finger of the left hand will not be a perfect fit for the same finger on the right hand.

– Be careful when measuring. Measure finger size 3 to 4 times to eliminate an erroneous reading. Remember that one millimeter corresponds to a full size.

– If you are hesitating between two sizes, choose the larger size. Please note that the style of the ring will also affect the choice of size: a bulky ring is made to be worn more loosely than a smaller model.

To ensure your finger size in the most accurate way, it is highly recommended to measure it at any jeweler/jewelry store nearby you.

Jewelry can cause skin problems for many different reasons including tarnishing, corrosion, perspiration and even product build-up. The problem can usually be solved by regular cleaning and removing jewelry when using certain products and chemicals.

We want your jewelry to be long-lasting, so here are a few tips to ensure your surprise is as good as new from the first day you revealed it

Prevention
Corrosion of jewelry occurs under moist or wet conditions, especially when also exposed to warmth and air. Jewelry should never be worn in the bath, the sauna or when participating in sports. Do not expose jewelry to contact with makeup, hairspray, creams and perfumes as they can speed up the tarnishing process. Avoid exposing your jewelry to household chemicals when cleaning with bleach or ammonia, or when swimming in chlorinated or salt water, as it can also cause damage. A good rule of thumb is to let jewelry be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you remove in the evening!

Tarnished Jewelry
In order to prevent any product build-up such as makeup, hair products, body oil/lotion on your jewelry, you can use a very soft cloth to clean and polish. A safe way to clean most jewelry is to pour a small amount of a mild liquid detergent (pH neutral) in lukewarm water and use a small, soft brush. Toothbrushes are actually ideal for cleaning intricate designs which can otherwise be difficult to clean. If the jewelry is very dirty, leave it to soak in the water for about 10 minutes. Rinse and pat dry with a soft, clean cloth.

Avoid “home remedies” such as using toothpaste, cola etc. These kinds of remedies will often damage the jewelry. Toothpaste contains an abrasive and cola is acidic, both will damage the surface of the precious metals.

Storage
When jewelry is not worn, it should be stored separately in a (lined) protective box or in a tarnish resistant pouch.

We have already listed some steps for you to choose your right size bracelets. Bear in mind that the more charms you add to your bracelets, the tighter it will become.

Step 1: Use the tape measure or a strip of paper to measure your wrist.

Just wrap the soft tape measure around the broadest part of your wrist and take note of the length. If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen or pencil then use a ruler to measure the length (The starting end of the paper must be at the base of the ruler and marked 0). That would be your wrist size.

Step 2: Add one inch, or 2.5 centimeters, onto this measurement to get the final length of your bracelets.

Please make sure there’s enough space to tuck in 2 fingers as this is the space you need to add the charms. If you want to add less than seven charms, add 2 centimeters are ok. If you plan to wear eight or more charms, please add 3 centimeters. If you purchase a bangle, just choose the next size from your actual wrist measurement.

Notes:
1. A bracelet is perfectly sized when you measure your wrist tightly and add 2 or 3 cm.
2. If you are between sizes, ask yourself how you like to wear your bracelet. If you wear it tightly choose the smaller size and if you like to wear it loosely take the next size up.
3. Please be aware that when you receive a new bracelet it will feel stiff, which can make it uncomfortably tight. The bracelet will quickly soften and become more flexible as you wear it.
